Write on workshops
Have you always wanted to write but have trouble getting started?
Do you want to gain confidence expressing yourself in writing?
Does your writing need a kickstart?
Write On workshops will energise you and help you realise your potential as a writer.
Write On workshops are suitable for all levels of writing experience including established writers, those with no previous experience, and those with low level of literacy.
Workshops are informed by the Amherst Writers Method developed by Pat Schneider over thirty thirty years ago and used throughout the world.
As well as weekly online writing workshops, custom workshops tailored to the specific needs of your organisation or community can also be provided.
“There is only one of you in all time, your expression is unique and if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium”
—Martha Graham
What happens at a workshop?
The teaching of craft is conducted through exercises which invite experimentation and growth.
Participants write in response to timed exercises designed to spark the imagination and to get pens moving.
Participants are invited to read out what they have written while the other group members listen. It is not obligatory to read out loud.
Guided feedback is given to each writer.
This feedback is affirmative, each listener emphasising what they liked about the writing, what they remembered and what they found strong.
